You are my favorite. Please don’t tell fall and winter and spring I said you are the dearest. They too are good, in their own ways, but you, my most beloved are spectacular.
Here is why I love you so…

one | sunshine
One of the best feelings in the world is sitting outside in the warm sunshine after a cold sunless winter and a dreary and rainy spring. On sunny days you’ll find me soaking up every ounce of vitamin D I possibly can. It makes me ridiculously happy.
two | swimming
I am a fish. A true Pisces. I must swim. I must float. I must shoot my kids with water guns over and over and over again. Pool time is the best time. I am overjoyed by the smell of the ocean. Salty air soothes my soul. Beach time is an even better time.
three | barefeet
I hate socks and shoes. It’s like a can’t breathe when I am wearing them. I am barefoot more often than not in the summer. My kids are too.
four | nature
Birds chirping, bees buzzing, and butterflies fluttering. Flowers growing and frogs croaking and fish jumping. These are the sights and sounds of summertime. And I cannot get enough of them!
five | bbq’s and picnics
I should have just said food, right? Because, I mean, who doesn’t love a good grilled hot dog, fresh corn on the cob, or summer salad. Except, when it comes to these events, friends are always included. So, maybe I should have just listed friends as number 5 because time with them is what is really the most important.
six | fruit
Watermelon. Blackberries and blueberries. Peaches and plums and pineapple. There’s nothing better. I love them by themselves, in a fruit salad, smoothie, or mixed drink. Yum!
seven | vacation
Since having the triplets 7 years ago we have taken short several trips here and there, but our summer vacations are the bees knees, the cat’s meow, jim-dandy. We have found our home away from home and spent the last week of July in Gulf Shores, Alabama for the last 3 years. This year will be no different as long as the dreaded Corona virus doesn’t ruin something else for us. Those 10 days or so every summer are the greatest. Seriously. We make the best memories there.
In all honesty, there are at least 100 other things I love about you, summer… popsicles, hammock naps, sun-kissed skin…just to name a few.
You are truly a joy, summer. You bring out the best in me and for that I am forever thankful!
