It’s summer! Okay, not officially, but Covid homeschool is out and for us that means s-u-m-m-e-r!
Of course, my kids think that means no math or reading or social studies for the next 12 weeks (give or take a few depending if they go back to school at all).
Well, I’m here to tell them that since I was such a crappy homeschool mom that I have a small, but mighty curriculum planned for them.
And it includes these 7 sensational books about summer!
one | the honeybee
Telling the day in the life of a honeybee, The Honeybee is charming, beautiful, and informative. It’s fun to read aloud and appeals to readers of all ages!
two | then comes summer
A lovely lyrical ode to summers spent outdoors, anyone who has ever counted down the days until school gets out will appreciate And Then Comes Summer!
three | everything you need for a treehouse
The message Everything You Need For a Treehouse shares – the importance of outside play and enjoying the world around you is outstanding. The variety of tree houses from completely realistic to wildly fantastical is what makes this book the best!
four | the summer of bad ideas
The Summer of Bad Ideas is story of a not so cool girl who is running the risk of losing her best friend. She desperately wants to go to camp with her friend to try and save their friendship, but her overprotective mom has other plans.
five | summer evening
With very few words, Summer Evening delightfully brings to life summers on a farm. Simple. Peaceful. Perfect.
six | up in the garden down in the dirt
A gardening story told from two perspectives: below the ground and above the ground, Up in the Garden and Down in the Dirt focuses on all the work and decisions that go into truly cultivating a garden.
seven | bats at the beach
It’s a perfect night for a trip to the beach. The bats grab their things and spend the “day” at the seashore. In Bats at the Beach the verses flow flawlessly and the pictures are perfect!
